Race Report: Cheadle 4 08/07/2012

The Cheadle 4 is a pleasant 4 mile route.

And she's off!
As I parked up my car at the Leisure Club and looked around I thought that there would not
be that many doing it as normally the car park is full. I guess some decided to run to the race! As usual the weather was overcast but the sun started to shine through as I was standing on the start line. As soon as the gun went off everyone surged forward.  Some bright spark parked their mini 100 yards from the start and most of the runners were joking that they were doing hurdles this morning.
On the way home – only half a mile to go now.
I saw some of my fellow competitors and decided to try and keep them in sight.  That strategy worked until the last 800 yards when I got piped at the post. The race is undulating(but only in the first 2 miles). Once you have gotten the hill out of the way there is a very long downhill. The last mile is quick with a nice finish along the main road and into the park.  I would definitely do it again as the weather is always good for this race. I just need to improve on my hill work.  Guess I’ll have to go to one of Mik’s Monday night sessions.
