About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

"No Ordinary Running Club!"

Upcoming Event: Monday Sandstone Off-road Adventure 20/05/2013

The first of this season's Monday evening off-road adventure runs was very successful with 8 Striders enjoying a beautiful run around Swettenham and Brereton before returning to the Swettenham Arms for a well-deserved drink.

This coming Monday we will continue the series with a 5.5 mile section of the infamous Sandstone Trail.

We will be going from Beeston to Bickerton along one of the most exciting and scenic sections. It should take us about 30 minutes or so to travel there from the Cricket Club, the best plan will probably be to leave a car at the finish and then drive to the start, returning later to pick up the car at the start. Unless we can come up with a suitably interesting circular route of similar distance in the meantime.

Hopefully we will find time to enjoy a post-run drink in the Pheasant Inn in Higher Burwardsley.

All Striders are welcome to attend, the pace will be relaxed (no-one will be left behind) and there will no doubt be some interesting hills for anyone to do some reps up if that is what floats your boat.
