About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

"No Ordinary Running Club!"

Upcoming Event: Predictathon 12/06/2013

It's Predictathon time! 


It's your annual opportunity to run the Super 6 route and predict what time you will run it in. How well do you know your pace? Or are you a lucky guesser?

This is how it works:
  • You turn up to the club as usual on Wednesday 12th June 2013.
  • You write your predicted finish time in secret and hand it to Michael.
  • Everybody walks over to the start of the Sandbach Super 6 route, the clock starts (in secret of course) and off you all go.
  • No timing devices of any sorts are allowed. No Garmins, No Phones No watches. No sundials. Nothing. if you have to ask whether it's allowed - the answer is NO :-)
  • It's not necessarily the first person back that wins - it's the one closet to their predicted time. Hence the name "predictathon".


 As usual there will be prizes for the very best and worst predictors!

The event will be followed by cake & beverages.
