About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Sandbach 10k: Final Race Details

We've managed to contact all but one or two entrants via email or phone, but just in case the messages go awry here are the final race day details for the Sandbach 10k on Sunday.

Dear intrepid runner,

First of all, may I offer my sincere thanks for entering our 10k race, all of us at Sandbach Striders look forward to meeting you on Sunday and we hope the race exceeds your expectations.

The main race starts at 11:00am – although please be aware that the start line is a 5-10 minute walk from the cricket club. We shall be starting to lead runners to the start from 10:45am.

There will be a family fun run which starts at 10:25am and any child who completes the approximately half mile course will receive a medal and chocolate bar, entry is £2 on the day. Parents are of course welcome to accompany their children round.

Car parking will be in Wilkinson House immediately to the right of the race HQ at Elworth Cricket Club (postcode:  CW11 3BF). There will be marshalls present to direct cars on and off the car park.  Please avoid parking on the main road outside of the cricket club which will be coned off for safety reasons. In the event of the car park filling up, there are a number of quiet side roads around the railway station, a very short walk from race HQ.

Numbers can be collected from Race HQ at Elworth Cricket Club from 9am onwards.

The changing rooms and toilets will also be open from 9am.

Spectators are more than welcome to attend, we have a nice warm club house in the event of inclement weather. There will be tea, coffee, soft drinks and a variety of delicious home-made cakes for sale, all of the proceeds of which go to our club charity.

We’ve been working hard to ensure that you won’t have any issues on race day, but if you do then please do talk to a race marshall who will all be wearing yellow hi-vis vests or myself who will be in orange.

Finally, I hope you run well on Sunday and have a safe journey to and from the race.
On behalf of everyone at Sandbach Striders, may I wish you good luck and all the best!

Michael Escolme

NB: If you are a local runner and not currently a member of a running club, you are more than welcome to come and run with us at Sandbach Striders for one month with no obligation to join. Speak to a race marshall on the day or visit our website for more details.
