About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Race Report: Sandbach 10k 21/09/2014

As a Striders newby I wanted to run this years 10K as in future years I'm sure I'll want to help marshal the event.

I'm really glad I did as it was a fantastic day. There was a great atmosphere at Elworth Cricket Club, I'm sure helped by the glorious weather and a cake stall that Mary Berry would have been proud of! It was great to see so many kids there both at the fun run and helping to marshal, (I've already recruited my two girls to help at next years event).

The race starts, only another 10k left to run...
As for my race; my initial pace of 4 minutes 30 seconds per km was probably a bit optimistic and I slowed slightly to reach halfway in exactly 23 mins. Given my slightly fast start I was a bit worried that I was going to suffer towards the end but spurred on by the fantastically vocal marshals I was delighted to get home in a new personal best time of 46:42.

Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better I open my goodie bag to find a Double Decker, surely the king of chocolate bars?!

A great end to a great race.
