About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

News from Sandbach Striders 09/11/2015

Members of Sandbach Striders running club made their annual trip to Blackpool to run the length of the world-famous illuminations. Starting in Starr Gate the five mile route takes in such iconic landmarks such as Blackpool Tower, the Pleasure Beach and the Golden Mile.

Eight members of Sandbach Striders ran the Arley Hall 10k, a flat, fast course around the rural roads of Antrobus near Warrington. Tony Taylor was first Strider home in a new personal best time and coming first in the V50 category.

Also in action on Saturday were the Striders who were in three different parkruns. Closet to home were the two Striders who ran the free weekly parkrun at Congleton. Terry Coppenhall was first home in a time of 20:37 closely followed by Rick Kelso-Davies who finished in 21:15.

In Aberystwyth Ian Cussons and Lou Hayward ran the Aberystwyth parkrun at Plascrug Park near the centre of the scenic Welsh seaside town. Lou finished in a time of 27:38 just ahead of Ian in 27:47.

Michael Escolme ran the Bath Skyline parkrun at Free Fields on the outskirts of the historic spa City. Michael finished in 39:12.

Three Striders were in action at Delamere Forest for the Nightrunner 10k, a 10k trail race around the forest at night. 

The results were as follows:

Craig Edwards ran the Roaches fell race, a 15 mile race starting from Meerbrook village hall near Leek with around 3700 feet of ascent. Craig finished the race in 3:47:03.

Paul Nicholls was in action in North Yorkshire at the Goathland marathon. This is the 50th marathon that Paul has completed finishing in a time of around 7.5 hours.
